St Kevin’s has an active and supportive Parent Council who assist the school in many ways, helping to improve the education and experiences for all our pupils.<\/p>\n
The Parent Council’s rights and duties include:<\/p>\n
(a) supporting the work of the school<\/p>\n
(b) representing the views of the parents<\/p>\n
(c) consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest<\/p>\n
(d) promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community;<\/p>\n
(e) fundraising<\/p>\n
(f) taking part in the selection of promoted staff<\/p>\n
(g) receiving reports from the head teacher and education authority<\/p>\n
(h) receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses<\/p>\n
(i) improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Members of Parent Councils, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available. Information must be provided on whether or not a Parent Council has been established and the reason(s) given for the non-establishment or dis-establishment of a Parent Council.<\/p>\n
The name and status of each Parent Council member and the clerk should be included. It should be indicated that the head teacher has a right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council.
