{"id":1123,"date":"2016-08-24T23:02:32","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T23:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stjo\/?p=1123"},"modified":"2016-08-24T23:02:32","modified_gmt":"2016-08-24T23:02:32","slug":"augustseptember-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stjo\/2016\/08\/24\/augustseptember-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"August\/September Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0St Joseph\u2019s Primary School\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>New P1 classes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our new P1\u2019s have settled in really well this week.\u00a0 From Monday (22<sup>nd<\/sup> August) we are asking that parents do not come into the playground as it is making it very busy and our older pupils are finding it difficult to enter through the gate.\u00a0 Can you please keep the path clear at the front of school\/side path so there is room for pupils to enter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Data Checks and Permission forms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All pupils have now been issued with forms and data checks.\u00a0 Can you please make sure these are completed, signed and returned to school as soon as possible.\u00a0 This ensures we have the most up-to-date contact information for every child should we need to call in an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>If at any point during the year any of your child\u2019s emergency contacts change their home\/work\/mobile number, please give your child a note with the change, or come into the office.<\/p>\n<p>Should you move house, we are required by NLC to see proof of your address (just as we do during enrolment).<\/p>\n<p>Photograph, DVD and competition permissions also require to be completed and signed so we know which children can be included in pictures to be displayed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Text messages\/e-mails\/website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have reduced the amount of text messages that we send due to the cost to the school.\u00a0 To make sure that parents\/carers still get information, we have requested in the forms sent home that an e-mail address is provided.\u00a0 <strong>Urgent messages will still be sent via text.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our website is a great source of information. It will show you what\u2019s going on in school and give information on holidays, events etc.\u00a0 Please save the link below so you can access our website regularly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stjo\/\"><strong>https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stjo\/<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Medication held in school<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pupils who have prescribed, long term medication (i.e. inhaler, eczema cream) can have this held in school.\u00a0 We have a form that parents\/carers need to complete at the office before we can take the medication.\u00a0 It must be prescribed by a Doctor and have a pharmacy label with your child\u2019s name and dosage.<\/p>\n<p>Should your child have a short term medicine they need to take (i.e. antibiotic), we require a form to be completed before we can give it to your child.\u00a0 The medicine must be prescribed by a Doctor and have a pharmacy label with your child\u2019s information.\u00a0 This will be returned when you advise the course of medication is complete.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Upcoming Events<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 26<sup>th<\/sup> August<\/strong> &#8211; Our P7\u2019s will be attending the Year of Mercy Mass at Carfin Grotto<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 5<sup>th<\/sup> Sept<\/strong> \u2013 Allan\u2019s Magic show will visit school for our P1-4\u2019s.\u00a0 This show will promote Road Safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday 12<sup>th<\/sup> Sept<\/strong> \u2013 P1, P1\/2 &amp; P7 parent\/carer visit to class to observe a literacy lesson at 9.30am.\u00a0 A letter will be issued with further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday 13<sup>th<\/sup> Sept<\/strong> \u2013 P2\/3, P3\/4 &amp; P6 parent\/carer visit to class to observe a literacy lesson at 9.30am.\u00a0 A letter will be issued with further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday 14<sup>th<\/sup> Sept<\/strong> \u2013 P4, P5 &amp;
