🌼 Primary 2/3 April Learning Blog 🌼

April has been a busy and enjoyable month in Primary 2/3, with lots of exciting learning taking place across the curriculum—especially with the brighter weather allowing us to get outdoors more!

📚 Literacy

This month, the class have continued developing their phonics and spelling within their working groups. Pupils have also been reading independently through their group reading books, building confidence, fluency and understanding. We continue to encourage regular reading at home to support this progress.

➕ Maths and Numeracy

In maths, we have been learning about symmetry. Pupils have been identifying lines of symmetry in shapes and patterns, as well as creating their own symmetrical designs. We have also enjoyed taking our learning outdoors, exploring symmetry in the environment and making the most of the good weather.

🐞 Topic – Minibeasts

Our class topic has now changed to Minibeasts, and the class have thoroughly enjoyed getting started. We took part in a minibeast hunt, exploring our outdoor environment and discovering a variety of different minibeasts. This hands-on experience helped us learn more about where minibeasts live and their features.

We are looking forward to moving on to our next topic, the Human Body, in the coming weeks.

💛 Health and Wellbeing

In Health and Wellbeing, we have been focusing on the Emotion Works programme, particularly the “Triggers” cog. We have been discussing how changes—such as the weather—can affect our emotions and what we can do to manage these feelings. Pupils have been developing their understanding of how emotions link to their reactions and behaviours.

🏃 Physical Education

In PE, we began the month focusing on teamwork games. Pupils worked in a range of partners and groups, developing communication, cooperation and problem-solving skills through a variety of activities.

We are now moving on to target games, with an introduction to football. Pupils are beginning to develop their control, aim and teamwork skills through fun and active games.

✝️ Religious Education

In RE, we have been learning about other world religions. We explored Sikhism, learning about its important features and what is significant within this religion. We are now moving on to Judaism, where we will continue to learn about key beliefs, symbols and practices.

Thank you for reading our April update! We are very proud of all the hard work in Primary 2/3 and look forward to sharing more of our learning next month. 🌈✨
