Settled September in P1!

We have settled into Primary 1 in St. Gerard’s Primary so well. We have all gotten to know each other, our class routines and are becoming more independent when carrying these out. We are so excited to share some of the fabulous learning we have been doing.

Lovely literacy and fantastic phonics

Last week we started to learn our initial sounds starting with ‘s’ just when we looked at our spider zoo animal. We have also been looking a ‘t’ for train and treasure! We have also started to build our reading skills and behaviours when we read our books every day.

Number fun in P1!

We have been learning our numbers by being introduced to the Number Zoo animals from Greedy Zero the gorilla to Tiger Ten. Amazing eight the spider was a big hit in our class so we counted out spider legs to match the numbers. We have also being ordering numbers and even helping our fine motor skills by using tongs to count beads.

We have been so busy!

Some of us decided to create our own treasure maps in our creative area and then a pirate ship appeared. We have had so much fun talking about why the sails were ripped and discovering the treasure in the chest. We really love our train tracks as well and had chats about a big fire in Glasgow at the station so we had to get a fire engine too. We have loved exploring all the areas in our classroom and in our shared Big Play area too.

I wonder what October will have in store for us?!
