New Topic

April 29, 2016 by User deactivated | 1 Comment

The children have been learning about Jungle animals, as it is the new nursery topic. The children chose to learn about jungle animals and have participated in fun and interesting learning experiences this week. The children were taking part in physical activities by dancing along to jungle songs, and moving their bodies while pretending to be wild animals. They children also listened to the story Rumble In the Jungle, explored animals pictures and names, and made a animal collage.

Easter party fun.

The children had great fun at their Easter party, playing games, going on a Easter egg hunt and eating a delicious snack. The Easter bunny visited our nursery and the children were excited to look for eggs.

Cafe snack

March 18, 2016 by Mrs Young | 0 comments

We always like to try out new ideas and we decided to have a cafe style snack once a week.We have waitresses who take our order of beans or spaghetti hoops on toast and a chef to cook for us! We all sit together and enjoy chatting with each other. It also gives us an opportunity to practise using a knife and fork. Clean plates all round!

It was such a lovely morning that we decided to go to Bluebell park with a picnic snack. We looked and listened for signs of Spring and heard birds singing , saw nests in the trees and some little buds . We all enjoyed being energetic too!

Fairtrade fun!

March 10, 2016 by Mrs Young | 1 Comment

It is Fairtrade Fortnight and we did some interesting research to find out what Fairtrade means. We realised that some of our favourite foods like bananas, chocolate and blueberries, can all be Fairtrade and that this means the farmers who have grown these will get a better price for their crop. We then baked muffins and made hot chocolate which we really enjoyed having for snack!

The Three Reads

Congratulations to the boys and girls who have been participating in the Three Reads approach. Over the last two months they have listened to 6 stories, and have been encouraged to take part in conversations during each read. The children have become familiar with the role of the author and illustrator, the blurb, the title, the big problem and events and characters. The children have been encouraged to think about how the characters are feeling and why, as well as predict events in the story. The children have worked extremely hard and were developing listening and thinking skills throughout. Sadly, this session has come to an end and the children received a certificate for their efforts. Well done.

Group three will begin their reads next week and names of the children taking part can be located on the Three Reads display next to the nursery door.

The children are continuing to learn about their senses in a variety of ways and enjoyed looking and listening for vehicles, animals, children and signs of spring, outdoors. The children circled or ticked what they could see and hear.
