Welcome back to our Weekly Blog with our exciting news and learning experiences from our pupils.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Primary 7 High School Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Primary 7 pupils enjoyed an exciting two-day visit this week to Our Lady\u2019s High School, giving them a valuable glimpse into what life will be like next year. During their visit, they took part in a range of engaging lessons, met some of their future teachers, and explored the school’s facilities. Here is what some of our Primary 7 pupils thought about their visit:<\/p>\n

Melody \u2013 \u201cMy favourite parts of the Our Lady\u2019s two-day visit was music, social studies, art and home economics. These two days were packed with numerous subjects and activities within all the classes. Luckily, I was with a range of my best friends, Susanna for all my classes and my other best friend Carly was in my house, Marian. I had the opportunity to make brand new friends and vote for a new house name! my experience was fabulous, and I can\u2019t wait to start high school in August!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Conall \u2013 \u201cIn high school my favourite thing was the different subjects. In science we got to do 3 experiments and in art we got to create our own cereal boxes. Also, in ICT we got to go on google maps and take screenshots of famous landmarks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Susanna \u2013 \u201cMy favourite part of Our Lady\u2019s two-day trip was art, ICT and home economics. In art I really liked it because we got to make our own kind of cereal and design our own colourful box for the cereal. I liked ICT because we got to learn a bunch of new shortcuts and tricks on the computer and play around on google maps. I liked home economics because we got to do word searches and there was a picture of a kitchen which we had to find the dangerous things and how to make it safer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Lucas \u2013 \u201cMy favourite subject at the high school was art and I loved winning the big football game at the football pitch\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hamish \u2013 \u201cI liked walking to the high school and my favourite subject was art.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Jessica \u2013 \u201cMy favourite part of the high school was art because you got to make your own cereal box. I liked this because it gave you a lot of freedom in the creative department.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Charlie \u2013 \u201cMy favourite memory in Our Lady\u2019s was music, art, maths and home economics. I also liked making new friends and it will be a moment that I will remember forever.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

It certainly seems the experience helped ease any nerves and sparked enthusiasm as our pupils look forward to starting their high school journey.<\/p>\n

Boys Football Tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Friday 9th May, our boys\u2019 football team took part in a tournament at Taylor High School and delivered an outstanding performance. They went undefeated across seven matches, securing six impressive wins and one draw. Their hard work, teamwork, and determination paid off as they were crowned tournament champions. Congratulations, boys \u2013 we are incredibly proud of your achievement!<\/p>\n

Evening Rosary at Carfin Grotto<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last night, pupils from our school had the honour of leading the evening Rosary alongside Father Grant at Carfin Grotto, bringing together pupils, staff, families, and members of the wider community in a beautiful moment of prayer and reflection. It was a peaceful and spiritually uplifting evening, with everyone joining in devotion during the month of Our Blessed Lady under the serene surroundings of the Grotto. We are proud of our school community for representing St Brendan\u2019s with reverence and unity.<\/p>\n

This week, several pupils were proudly presented with the Reader of the Month<\/em> award in recognition of their enthusiasm, effort, and progress in reading. This celebration not only highlights a love for books and learning but also encourages positivity and perseverance among all our pupils. We are delighted to see their confidence grow and hope their achievements inspire others to develop a lifelong passion for reading. Well done to all our fantastic readers!<\/p>\n

Mary\u2019s Meals<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week, we were privileged to welcome a representative from Mary\u2019s Meals to our school assembly, where they shared the incredible work that they do to support children around the world by providing daily meals in schools. Their message was both inspiring and eye-opening, helping our pupils understand the impact of kindness, generosity, and global solidarity. As part of their visit, they asked us to keep their mission in our thoughts and to offer prayers through the Holy Rosary to support the continued success of their work particularly during the month of May. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn more about this vital cause.<\/p>\n

Nursery<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our nursery has been full of excitement and curiosity this week as the children have been busy learning about planting and growing. They\u2019ve enjoyed getting their hands dirty while exploring how seeds develop into plants, gaining a hands-on understanding of nature. This month\u2019s story focus has been The Very Hungry Caterpillar<\/em>, which has sparked wonderful conversations and activities around life cycles and the changes that living things go through. It\u2019s been a fun and educational time, full of discovery and learning!<\/p>\n
