Primary 3\/2 have had a very busy first term. We have been enjoying the new challenges and learning experiences at this new stage.<\/p>\n

Our interdisciplinary topic this term is \u2018Katie Morag Delivers the Mail\u2019. Using the story as a stimulus we have been learning about the key residential, agricultural and recreational differences between a town and remote island. During play-based learning experiences, the children have had lots of fun re-enacting life on a remote island in our class Post Office. We have used a variety of malleable materials to create a 3D model of the island of Struay. In the construction area, we have been using our problem-solving skills to create a variety of houses and buildings. We have also used the stories of Katie Morag as a stimulus for our writing lessons. The pupils were able to retell the story of \u2018Katie Morag Delivers the Mail\u2019 in their own words. Have a look at our work below. As well as this, the pupils learned how to write a letter, by writing a letter to Katie Morag asking her about her life on the island with her family. All the pupils are eagerly waiting for a reply from Katie Morag.
