Your child was originally provided with a <strong>red folder<\/strong> to keep their worksheets in. This\u00a0<strong>red<\/strong><strong> folder\u00a0<\/strong>can now be kept at home so that you can keep your child&#8217;s completed work in here.<\/p>\n<p>Today your child will have a new <strong>clear plastic zippy wallet<\/strong> which will be used to send worksheets home on a Monday. This helps to protect worksheets from getting wet or crumpled in their school bag. Could I please ask that you take out the worksheets and send the plastic wallet back to school empty on a Tuesday. These will be sanitised and given out again on the following Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The children really enjoyed learning their first sounds and common words last week. They also loved practising reading their first book. This book will be sent home for homework this week.<strong> Please return the reading book to school on Thursday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Could you please encourage your child to practise their reading book each night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Monday<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><b>Literacy<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Letter sound-<strong> s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Practise saying the\u00a0<strong>\u2018s\u2019 <\/strong>sound. Listen to the<strong> \u2018s\u2019 <\/strong>\u00a0Jolly Phonics song. Can you think of any other words that begin with \u2018s\u2019?<\/p>\n<p>3.Complete\u00a0<strong>letter \u2018s\u2019 formation worksheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We are learning to recognise and write the\u00a0<strong>number 6<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number 6 formation rhyme<\/strong>\u2013 &#8216;Bend down low to pick up sticks. Now I&#8217;ve made the number six.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your child to recite the rhyme to you and then practise their number formation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Complete number 6 formation worksheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>Tuesday<\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Common Words: <strong>I, in, it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Use your\u00a0<strong>word tin<\/strong>\u00a0to practise your common words. When you look at each word, read the word and then spell it out loud.<\/p>\n<p>2.Practise writing your common words by choosing one of the fun spelling tasks below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pasta Words<\/strong>\u2013 Arrange pasta or cereal to make your words. Glue onto a piece of paper or take a picture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chalk-\u00a0<\/strong>Write your common words outside on the ground using chalk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foamy Words<\/strong>\u2013 Spray a small amount of shaving foam and spread it out. Roll a dice then select that amount from your pile, e.g. if you roll a 4 on a dice, count out four items. Then put them back into the pile and roll again. If you don&#8217;t have a dice at home, don&#8217;t worry!
