They will be learning two new letter sounds and three common words. The child will be taught their common words in class on a Tuesday. They will be given their new words to put <span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">in their tub to take home and practise.I recommend that you practise these sounds and words daily at home with your child to help embed them.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Monday<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><b>Literacy<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Letter sound- <strong>a<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Practise saying the <strong>&#8216;a&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong>sound. Listen to the<strong> &#8216;a&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong> Jolly Phonics song. Sing the song whilst doing the action.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"ALL Jolly Phonics songs in alphabetic order\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/106231366?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>2.Go on a <strong>sound hunt<\/strong> around your house looking for objects that begin with the sound \u2018a\u2019. Can you think of any other words that begin with \u2018a\u2019?<\/p>\n<p>3.Complete <strong>letter &#8216;a&#8217; formation worksheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We are learning to recognise and write the <strong>number 4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Number 4 formation rhyme<\/strong>\u2013 Down and across and down once more, now I&#8217;ve made the number 4.<\/p>\n<p>Encourage your child to recite the rhyme to you and then practise their number formation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Complete number 4 formation worksheet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>Tuesday<\/h1>\n<h2><strong>Literacy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Common Words: <strong>a<\/strong>, <strong>at<\/strong>, <strong>the<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Use your <strong>word tin<\/strong> to practise your common words. When you look at each word, read the word and then spell it out loud.<\/p>\n<p>2.Practise writing your common words by choosing one of the fun spelling tasks below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pasta Words<\/strong>&#8211; Arrange pasta or cereal to make your words. Glue onto a piece of paper or take a picture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chalk- <\/strong>Write your common words outside on the ground using chalk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Foamy Words<\/strong>&#8211; Spray a small amount of shaving foam and spread it out. Practise writing your words in the foam.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Maths<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Practise counting up to 10 by playing Underwater Counting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/learning-to-count\/underwater-counting\">https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/learning-to-count\/underwater-counting<\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Wednesday<\/h1>\n<h2>Literacy<\/h2>\n<p>Letter sound- <b>t<\/b><\/p>\n<p>1.Practise saying the <strong>&#8216;t&#8217; <\/strong>sound. Click on the link above and listen to the<strong> &#8216;t&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong> Jolly Phonics song. Sing the song whilst doing the action.<\/p>\n<p>2.Go on a <strong>sound hunt<\/strong> around your house looking for objects that begin with the sound \u2018t\u2019.
