{"id":5993,"date":"2020-06-02T08:30:28","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T07:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/?p=5993"},"modified":"2020-06-02T00:10:12","modified_gmt":"2020-06-01T23:10:12","slug":"p4-3-tuesday-2nd-june","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/2020\/06\/02\/p4-3-tuesday-2nd-june\/","title":{"rendered":"P4\/3 Tuesday 2nd June"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good morning everyone, what a glorious day it was yesterday.\u00a0 I hope you all enjoyed the weather.\u00a0 Any work that you didn&#8217;t get a chance to do yesterday, try to do it today.\u00a0 Your spelling words are the most important, these will keep you on track for when you return to school in August.<\/p>\n<p>Morning prayer and Our Father.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Literacy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Spend 15 mins this morning revising your spelling words.<\/p>\n<p>During this time away from school, we have had to spend a lot of our time in our gardens or out walking in our local area.\u00a0 Following on from your acrostic POSITVE poem yesterday, today I would like you write another poem.\u00a0 The title can be MY GARDEN or MY DAILY WALK (or cycle), or SUMMER.\u00a0 To begin with, I want you to use all of your senses for the content of this poem.\u00a0 For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In my garden\/During my walk, I can see&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>In my garden\/During my walk, I can hear&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>In my garden\/During my walk, I can smell&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>In my garden\/During my walk, I can touch&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>In my garden\/During my walk, I can taste&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Complete this and then use the information to create your poem.\u00a0 It can be an acrostic poem using the words above or you can choose to write a poem with 2 or 3 verses.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Numeracy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some mental maths to begin this morning with The Daily 10.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.topmarks.co.uk\/maths-games\/daily10<\/p>\n<p>Using the Teejay textbook 1A, do page 142 and if you have time or want to do more, have a go at page 185.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the hot weather that hopefully we have all been enjoying we are going to look at ways to help us stay hydrated.\u00a0 We know that we need to drink plenty of water and ensure we do that more frequently during hot days.<\/p>\n<p>Another great way to enjoy the hot weather is with a lovely cool Slushie!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/slush.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5828 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/slush.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yum Yum.\u00a0 Below there is a great recipe, with a little bit of science thrown in, that lets you make a slush with your hands!! Yip that is right you don\u2019t need a fancy NutriBullet or a blender, just your hands.\u00a0 So here goes :<\/p>\n<p>Instructions to make a cool mouth-watering smoothie!!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Place one cup of your chosen juice into a small Ziploc bag and zip tight.<\/li>\n<li>Place 4 cups of ice and half a cup of salt into a large Ziploc bag along with the juice bag and zip that tight too.<\/li>\n<li>Shake the large bag over the sink or outside for 2-5 minutes or until the juice bag turns to slush.<\/li>\n<li>Pour into a cup and enjoy!!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have your own recipe\/method for making a Slushie please email this along with a picture of your Slushie to<b> gw09grahamannemarie@glow <\/b>or upload it onto Twitter with an adult&#8217;s permission.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">RE<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Feast of Pentecost is a very important celebration in the Church&#8217;s year and watching the short clip below will give you a snapshot of the importance of this great celebration.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pentecost in 2 Minutes\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/J5tr4pqWIo4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Feast of Pentecost is seen as the Birthday of the Church.<\/p>\n<p>The Holy Spirit came to the disciples not only as a reminder that Jesus would always be with them but so that they received the strength and courage to continue to build God&#8217;s kingdom, not only in Jerusalem but to ensure it reached the ends of the earth.\u00a0 In John&#8217;s Gospel on Sunday we heard not only about Jesus&#8217; word but about Jesus&#8217; action, &#8220;he breathed on them and said receive the Holy Spirit&#8221;.\u00a0 Jesus&#8217; breath gives new life, eternal life into the disciples, giving them the courage to go out and spread the word by being given special gifts.
