Last week you were writing instructions on how to wash your hands properly.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weeks, you have been <strong>writing instructions to explain how to make or do something.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We want the reader to be able to follow the instructions and do the task on their own.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instructions are always in chronological order(that&#8217;s a fancy way of saying time order).<\/p>\n<p>They should have:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A title- <\/strong>What are you going to make or do?<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you need- <\/strong>A list of materials, ingredients, equipment or tools that you need to complete the task.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to do- <\/strong>Explain what to do, one step at a time, in the correct order.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pictures- <\/strong>These pictures help the reader to follow the instructions easily.<\/p>\n<p>Today you are going to become a professional gardener.<\/p>\n<p>Dippy wants to plant a seed but he doesn&#8217;t know how to. Do\u00a0 you think you could write instructions today to explain\u00a0<strong>how to plant a seed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First I would like you to watch this video clip to help you learn how to plant a seed. Can you point and name each part of the clock below.<\/p>\n<p>Can you remember which hand is the <strong>hour hand<\/strong> and which hand is the <strong>minutes hand<\/strong>? I loved seeing pictures of some of the clocks that\u00a0 you created.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Telling the Time<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Counting is essential for time-telling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To help the process of learning how to tell the time, encourage your child to<strong> practise\u00a0 counting from 1 to 60 in the correct order.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If they can count from 1-60, <strong>move on to counting in groups of 5<\/strong> \u2013 remember to point out that when you count in fives, every number ends in a 5 or 0.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/aclockface.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5726 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/aclockface.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Remember boys and girls:<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>long hand<\/strong> represents <strong>minutes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>short hand<\/strong> represents<strong> hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a clock in the house, use it to help explain the following to your child:<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are 60 seconds in one minute<\/strong>.\u00a0 When the long hand goes right round the clock that is 60 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are 60 minutes in one hour<\/strong>. When the short hand goes right round the clock that is 60 minutes.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>The Hour Hand<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Today you will be learning how to tell the time to the hour on the analogue clock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 analogue clock face is just a special kind of number line. A clock is just a circular number line from 1 to 12.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When the short hand points to a number, this tells us how many hours it is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When the minute hand is pointing to 12, it is showing a full hour. <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>We call this time \u2018o\u2019clock\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/4oclock.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5737\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/stbarbaras\/files\/2020\/05\/4oclock.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"315\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>On this clock, the hour hand is pointing at the 4 and the minute hand is pointing to the 12.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This clock is showing that the time is 4\u00a0o\u2019clock.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I would like you to read this PowerPoint carefully<\/strong>. It will give you a step-by-step guide of how to tell the time using <strong>o&#8217;clock.\u00a0<\/strong>At the end there is a little quiz to test how well you have been listening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/public\/stbarbaras\/uploads\/sites\/26624\/2020\/05\/28114406\/t-n-7132-telling-the-time-powerpoint-.ppt\">t-n-7132-telling-the-time-powerpoint-<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>One way to help your child grasp a better understanding of time is to draw your child&#8217;s attention to time<\/strong>. <strong>Mention the time at different points in the day<\/strong>. For example, you could say, \u2018it\u2019s 5 o\u2019clock \u2013 time for tea,\u2019 or \u2018it\u2019s 7 o\u2019clock \u2013 time for a bath.\u2019<\/p>\n<h1><strong>HWB<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>It is very important for us to talk about how we are feeling.\u00a0 It is especially important now as some of you may be worried about the changes we have all had to make in the last few months.\u00a0 Talking to someone, exercising and relaxing are all great ways to help your health and wellbeing and keep you feeling happy.\u00a0 Today I would like you to play the lanterns game below where you write down how you are feeling and what has made you feel that way.\u00a0 You will then see your feeling float up into the sky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthforkids.co.uk\/game\/lanterns\/\">https:\/\/www.healthforkids.co.uk\/game\/lanterns\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now we are going to do some Jump Start Jonny to help us get some fun exercise and make us smile!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jumpstartjonny.co.uk\/home\">https:\/\/www.jumpstartjonny.co.uk\/home<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on whichever video you like or do all three!\u00a0 My favourite is I like to move it\u00a0\u00a0it certainly gets your heart beating!<\/p>\n<p>Now for some relaxing time.\u00a0 A great way to relax is by doing yoga. Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing.
