On Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd February, P7’s from our eight associated primary schools took part in the Bridges to School Event run by Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in conjunction with Network Rail. Pupils worked in teams of ten and used their individual roles to successfully assemble a cable-stayed bridge securely. In order to be successful, pupils had to effectively communicate and problem solve together.
This was our first time as a school hosting the event and it was a huge success! We had some very keen participants and some budding engineers! Thank you very much to Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) in conjunction with Network Rail who expertly delivered the event across the two day period. Also, thank you to our wonderful S6 students and STEM Ambassadors who helped supervise and organise the day. A final thank you to all of our associated primary schools for their enthusiasm, effort and participation; St Bernard’s Primary, St Patrick’s Primary, St Monica’s Primary, St Stephen’s Primary, St Timothy’s Primary, Corpus Christi Primary, Our Lady & St Joseph’s Primary and St Mary’s Primary School.
Here are some photos from the two days (for more photos please see our department Twitter page @DAT_SAHS)
