2020/21 S6 Leadership Team

Congratulations to Beth O’Hear and Benchamin Benny who have been appointed as School Captains for 2020/21.   Croix Duffy & Kayleigh Mitchell have been appointed as Vice Captains.

Congratulations to Beth, Benchamin, Croix & Kayleigh, we look forward to their leadership this year.

Weekly Update: 14th – 18th Sept

  • Pupil Support Update
    • Miss MacAveety has been appointed acting Principal Teacher of Pupil Support for S5 in the absence of Miss Trainer.
  • Social Subjects
    • Check out the Social Subjects twitter page for another excellent showcase of pupils work from this week.  This week S1 students wrote to local MP’s & MSP’s, we look forward to hearing back from their political enquiries.
  • Next Week 
    • We will be on the GREEN version of the timetable next week.  Remember pupils should wear PE kit ONLY on the days they have PE as well as their blazer and an outdoor jacket if the weather is poor.  Students & staff are also required to wear a face covering in the corridors & communal areas. (Exemptions apply for some medical conditions)

Weekly Update: 7th – 11th Sept

  • Buddy Training
    • Our S6 Buddies have been through their training this week ahead of their work with our new S1 students.  S1 pupils will be allocated a buddy who will also conduct their S1 settling in interview next week.
  • Pupil Voice
    • Our Pupil Voice team has successfully created surveys for different departments.  The Pupil Voice team will be conducting them over the next week to gain an insight into S1’s experiences so far in different subjects.  Links to the surveys will be on the Pupil Voice twitter page & on the S1 Teams page.
  • Young STEM Leader
    • The STEM team are delighted to announce that we will be delivering the SSERC Young STEM Leader Award this year.  We are really excited about starting this award scheme.

Weekly Update : 31st Aug – 4th Sept

Another busy week on the Pink Timetable

  • Face Coverings
    • A reminder that students & staff should wear a face covering in corridors & communal areas whilst in school (Exemptions apply for some medical conditions).  This also applies to students when travelling on school buses.
  • Revised SQA Certificates
    • Students who have had their grades revised should receive their new SQA certificate this week.
  • Princes Trust XL Group
    • Our S4 Princes Trust group will be selling ‘Limited Edition’ Hand Sanitiser Bottles next week for £1. They all have key ring clips and are filled with 55ml of 70% Hand Sanitiser.
  • P.E.
    • Students who have PE should attend school in their PE kit on the days they have PE.
  • Pupil Voice 
    • All members of the Pupil Voice Team are now assigned to designated departments and classes.  Students have completed Part 1 of their review sheet and are preparing their S1 surveys to go live next week.
  • Social Subjects
  • Parents as Partners Meeting
    • The first Parents as Partners meeting of the year took place this week.

There will be a Virtual Get into Medicine UK Online Conference for years S3 – S5 students and their parents on Saturday 29/08/20.  To access this students and parents will need access to Zoom.

  • Medical Personal Statements
  • Medical School Interviews
  • Entrance Exams: UCAT & BMAT
  • How to access Medical Awards, Prizes, Leadership Programmes, and Scholarships to study Medicine at University.

A variety of talks looking at experiences from university and leading to life as a fully qualified professional. Along with lectures covering work experience, personal statements, interview techniques etc, led by our team of doctors.
