Weekly Update: 17th – 21st February

  • Rights Respecting Schools
    • This week at year group assemblies we launched our UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools committee. Our aim is to achieve the Bronze Award by the end of the academic year. Pupils interested in joining should speak to Mrs Lowry (Social Subjects) or other staff named at the assemblies.

  • Saturday School
    • Well done to all our senior pupils who braved the weather to attend Saturday school 
       this week, another successful day of learning, studying and preparation for SQA examinations.
  • S2 Retreats
    • Thanks again to NET Ministries for coming in and delivering another great retreat for S2 students.
  • S4 Options
    • The S4 to S5 options programme has begun. Students have been advised to consult their teachers regarding different career pathways. Students should also use the My World of Work website for information on the specific career options suited to their skills.
  • Duke of Edinburgh
    • Our S3 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group have been busy learning about contour lines and making their own balloon models to help them understand height on a map.  The Silver Duke of Edinburgh group completed the first St Andrew’s High School Orienteering QR code challenge.
  • My Future Goal Programme
    • Our S1 Focus Group have started the My Future Goal Programme with the Clyde FC Foundation.  They visited Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld, home of Clyde FC and met with Assistant Manager Alan Moore ahead of their introduction to the programme.
  • Sports News
    • Well done to the S4 netball team who won their game against against Our Lady’s High (Motherwell). Player of the match was Jenna Lowe. Well done also to the Open Netball team who were victorious against Braidhurst High School. A very good team performance with Victoria Carey being Player of the Match.
    • The S4 Football team were in action defeating Cumbernauld Academy 2-1. Both goals were scored by man of the match Adam Davidson. Well done to the team for braving the poor weather & putting in a winning performance.
  • Staff Quiz 
    • Thanks to the Celebrating Success Committee for organising the staff quiz night & to all staff who attended, it was a great night of staff bonding.  Well done to the winners from Support for Learning and thanks to Mr Armour our quiz master & DJ McCrossan for the music.
