Here is an overview of the developments our school has recently been involved with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong>Read to Succeed Week \u2013<\/strong> This is now our second year and helps support your children\u2019s reading and writing in a fun way.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We celebrated child\/parent efforts by holding a series of literacy events including:-<\/p>\n<p>Parents reading with child<\/p>\n<p>Author Visits<\/p>\n<p>Movie Night \u2013 based on novels the children have been reading<\/p>\n<p>Scholastic Book Fair<\/p>\n<p>Library Visits<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Reddick is continuing to work and support children in raising attainment in Literacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EASTER ACTIVITIES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Primary 1 \u2013 3 <\/u><\/p>\n<p>Primary 1, 1a, 1b and 1\/2 will lead the school in a Spring Assembly on Tuesday 28<sup>th<\/sup> March.\u00a0 During the assembly the children will have the opportunity to take part in an Easter Bonnet Parade.\u00a0 Thank you parents for making these at home with your child.<\/p>\n<p><u>Primary 4 \u2013 7 <\/u><\/p>\n<p>P4 \u2013 P7 will take part in the Easter Egg Competition \u2013 decorate a boiled egg. These should be brought to school on the morning of Thursday 30<sup>th<\/sup> March.\u00a0 The children will vote for the winning egg in each class.<\/p>\n<p><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Lenten Fundraising <\/u><\/p>\n<p>Our Lenten fundraising is well underway\u2026 We would like to thank you for your continued support in this area.<\/p>\n<p>Please complete our survey regarding the charities you wish us to support. (See last page).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staffing <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Huge Congratulations to Mrs Sandra McLean who was the successful candidate for the post of HT in St Aidan\u2019s Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>We do not know, as yet, when Mrs Mclean will leave us to take up the new post but we will keep you informed.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs McLean will be greatly missed by us all in St Margaret of Scotland Primary. We wish her every success in her new post.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to thank her personally for the friendship and support she has given me over the years. I have no doubt she will do a sterling job.<\/p>\n<p>In Mrs McMillan\u2019s absence Miss Rooney will continue with the role of APT.<\/p>\n<p>After Easter Break Miss Rooney will teach P4\/5 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Carrigan will teach P4\/5 on a Thursday and Friday<\/p>\n<p>Welcome back to Mrs McCormack who is returning from maternity leave. Mrs McCormack will cover the class teacher non-contact time 2 days per week.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Miss Hughes who gave birth to a baby boy on March 17<sup>th. <\/sup><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary 3 LCSC <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We would like to wish our wonderful children in P3LCSC Good luck in their new schools. Children will visit the Book Fair. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase books from the Book Fair during Parents&#8217; Evening on Thursday 23<sup>rd<\/sup> March. Please take a look at the Scholastic website as there are lots of free resources available. Thank you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Sacrament of First Reconciliation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to our Primary 3 children who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation in St Joseph\u2019s Parish on Tuesday 7<sup>th<\/sup> March and in Sacred Heart Parish on Tuesday 21<sup>st<\/sup> March. \u00a0It was a lovely celebration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sacrament of Holy Eucharist <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>St Joseph\u2019s Parish \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sunday 7<sup>th<\/sup> May @ 11.00am<\/p>\n<p>Sacred Heart Parish \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sunday 14<sup>th<\/sup> May @ 10.00am<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary 7 Transition <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Staff from OLHS have been working with the Primary 7 class weekly and we have had a visit from Mrs Cowie, DHT. The children are currently working on a transition project and are working very closely with pupils and staff from St Lucy\u2019s Primary.\u00a0 They have also had visits from a Mandarin teacher and will have a Spanish teacher after Easter break.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Mclean has also been working with closely with staff from Greenfaulds High and St Maurice\u2019s High Schools. More information will follow shortly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>P5 Swimming Program <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Our P5 children started their swimming block on Tuesday 14<sup>th<\/sup> March and will attend swimming and dry-side sports every <strong>TUESDAY<\/strong> morning, from for a twelve week period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fairtrade &amp; Eco<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are delighted to announce that we have achieved our Fairtrade and Eco flags.<\/p>\n<p>I would like to thank Mrs Forrest, Mrs Reddick and the Fairtrade committee and also Miss Rooney, Miss Hughes and the Eco committee for all of their hard work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Autism Awareness Month (April) \u2013 Onsie Day <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To help raise awareness for Autism Awareness Month we plan on having a onsie day. More details will follow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Once a week take a peek<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Can I ask you to check your child\u2019s hair and be extra vigilant when brushing, combing or washing your child\u2019s hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GENERAL NEWS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>School Ties <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These are available from the school office at a cost of \u00a33 each<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good to be Green<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Can I remind everyone to sign this and return to school on Monday mornings.
