{"id":19,"date":"2015-05-05T09:23:44","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T09:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2020-04-02T14:10:15","modified_gmt":"2020-04-02T14:10:15","slug":"technologies","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/sikeside\/technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"Technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Technologies<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Within Curriculum for Excellence, the technologies curriculum area relates particularly to contexts that provide scope for developing technological skills, knowledge, understanding and attributes through creative, practical and work-related activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The technologies framework provides a range of different contexts for learning that draw on important aspects of everyday life and work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">It includes creative, practical and work-related experiences and outcomes in business, computing science, food, textiles, craft, design, engineering, graphics and applied technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Learning in the technologies enables children to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">develop an understanding of the role and impact of technologies in changing and influencing societies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">contribute to building a better world by taking responsible, ethical actions to improve their life, the lives of others and the environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">gain the confidence and skills to embrace and use technologies now and in the future, at home, at work and in the wider community<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">become an informed consumer and producer who has an appreciation of the merits and impacts of products and services<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">be capable of making reasoned choices relating to the environment, sustainable development and ethical, economic and cultural issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">broaden their understanding of the role that information and communications technology (ICT) has in Scotland and in the global community<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">broaden their awareness of how ideas in mathematics and science are used in engineering and the technologies<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">experience work-related learning, and establish firm foundations for lifelong learning, and specialised study and careers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">It is important to remember that as children and young people play and learn they will develop an interest, confidence and enjoyment in ICT skills that can be transferred and applied in different learning contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Technologies Within Curriculum for Excellence, the technologies curriculum area relates particularly to contexts that provide scope for developing technological skills, knowledge, understanding and attributes through creative, practical and work-related activities.
