As you will be aware, children learn best when they are engaged in hands-on activities, which can often be messy. In the Nursery we endeavour to protect your child’s clothing against these elements but this is not always possible. Therefore we ask that you do not dress your child in their best clothes to Nursery. We also ask that they do not wear football colours, jewellery or other items that may restrict your child’s movement or cause him / her any distress as they see to their personal hygiene needs. This is in accordance with North Lanarkshire’s clothing and personal effects policy.
A Shawhead Nursery sweatshirt and polo shirt will be available for you to purchase at Scotcrest. Parents/ Carers, children and staff will be involved in designing a logo and uniform for our new nursery.
To access all areas of the curriculum, the children will take part in a variety of Outdoor Play activities in all types of weather conditions; therefore it is important that you ensure that your child is suitably dressed for the weather conditions. Wellingtons and soft shoes can be left in the Nursery, provided they are labelled. To ensure the safety of the children in the Nursery we ask that all children wear soft shoes whilst in the Playrooms.
The children will be allocated a specific peg for their coat and bag for their shoes, which will be clearly marked with their name. We ask that you mark all your child’s belongings with their name so that staff can identify these. We would also ask that in the event of an accident, where your child may need his / her clothes changed, you leave a change of clothes in a bag on your child’s peg.
