Chapter 4 – The road through the forest

What happens?

Dorothy and the Scarecrow talk while they continue their journey. Dorothy explains why she is going to the Emerald City and the Scarecrow wonders whether Oz could give him some brains. It grows dark and they find a place for Dorothy to sleep.

Have a think ..

Take a moment to think about these questions:

Dorothy tells the scarecrow that there is no place like home. We’re all spending a lot of time at home just now. What does home mean to you? Where is your favourite room at home?

The scarecrow can’t eat as his mouth is only painted on. Imagine that you have never been able to eat. What is your favourite food and how much would you miss it if you couldn’t ever eat again?

Focus on .. forests

Dorothy, Toto and the Scarecrow walk through the forest in this chapter. The trees are thick and block out the sunshine.
