Chapter 19 – Attacked by the fighting trees

What happened?

Leaving the Emerald City, the friends go in search of the Witch of the South.  After a good night’s sleep under the stars, they reach a thick forest. When they try to enter the forest, the trees try to stop them entering and continuing their journey. The Tin Woodman starts to chop the trees with his axe. The trees then let the friends pass. At the edge of the forest they reach a high wall made of china.

Have a think ..

Take a moment to think about these questions:

As they walked to the Land of the South, Dorothy and her friends laughed and chatted together, and she was filled with hope that she would get home.  Can you think of a time when your friends made you feel better?

Dorothy forgave the Wizard for not keeping his promise to get her home. Do you think you would have been able to forgive him?

Dorothy and her friends slept that night on the grass, with nothing but the stars over them

If you had to sleep outside under the stars, where do you think would make a good place to sleep?

Focus on .. sleep

Dorothy and her friends slept well under the stars. How important is it to get a good night’s sleep?
