What happens?
Once inside the Emerald City, Dorothy and her friends are dazzled by how brilliant, wonderful and green the city is. When they reach the Palace of Oz they are invited to stay as the Great Oz will grant them an audience on different days. Over the next few days each of group visits the Great Oz who appears in a different form to each of them and tells them he will not grant them their wishes until the Wicked Witch of the West is dead.
Have a think ..
Take a moment to think about these questions:
Different colours can affect our moods and emotions. How does the colour green make you feel? What about other colours? Would you want the world to be one colour?
Why do you think Dorothy doesn’t like the land of Oz?
Remember that the Witch is Wicked—tremendously Wicked—and ought to be killed.
This is what the Wizard says. Do you think he’s right or wrong?
Focus on colour
Everything in the dazzling Emerald City is green coloured. How much do you know about colour?
