SENT ON BEHALF OF THE HEADTEACHER OF REDBURN SCHOOL
Dear Parent/Carer
As you will be aware, schools across the country have closed to most pupils, except to those whose parents are Key Workers and to those who are most vulnerable. I have attached a letter for your information that gives more detail on which children can access school during this time. Please see North Lanarkshire Council’s website for the most up to date information.
As you will see from the letter, school provision is only available in circumstances where both parents are key workers. If you fall into this category please complete and return the attached Key Worker Proforma. It is assumed that school provision may not be required full-time for key workers’ children and that there may be times during the school week, depending on shift patterns, when care can be provided at home.
Finally, the defintion of pupils’ significant support needs must be viewed within the context of the current crisis and Scottish Government advice. It will not be appropriate for every child with significant additional support needs to attend school. Scottish Government advice is clear: anyone who can stay at home should be at home.
I fully appreciate your co-operation with this during these difficult times. It is important that we take all steps to prevent the unnecessary spread of COVID-19.
Yours Faithfully
Iain Pirie
