IDL –Healthy Eating

• Look at the Eatwell guide and talk to your child about the different foods it suggests you eat.
• Tell your child what your favourite meal would consist of and why.
• Encourage your child to independently create a healthy snack for someone to eat.

Write some sentences choosing different openers at the beginning of each sentence.

• Write down 2 or 3 safety instructions people should follow on Bonfire night.

Today we had a visit from the SSPCA.  They told us all about the fantastic work they do with animals.

• Road Safety competition – due in Monday 23rd October.  Design a leaflet with information to keep us safe.

– adults using the car park and roads safely

• Outdoors – Get outside and take part in some active fun – go for a walk/bike ride, play a game with your friends, go on a scavenger hunt.

 

• Halloween – Design your own Halloween costume, what will you dress up as this year?  With an adult at home, get cooking some tasty Halloween treats .

• Noun hunt – Use your reading book, books at home or magazines to find as many nouns as you can. Write some of the nouns you found in your jotter.
• Reading – reading books are to be read each night and brought to school each day. With an adult at home, talk about some of the following questions;

1. Who are the main characters in the story?
2. Where is the story set?
3. Which character did you like most? Why?
4. Did you like the ending? Why/why not?

• Continue to choose books at home to read for pleasure.

• Go on a number hunt around your house. Draw a table like this

Maths Focus – Counting in tens, writing numbers to 10 in words, ordering numbers

• Ask children to write a sequence of about 8–10 numbers on a strip of paper. These could be numbers of any size (choose numbers appropriate to their level of understanding and then try to challenge with larger numbers). Children then cut the strip into pieces and muddle them up. Children could time how long it takes them to put the numbers back in order. Numbers could be stuck or copied into homework jotter.
• Practise counting in 10’s – chant using different voices
• Writing numbers to 10 in words.  Use this video to help you.

Literacy

• Revise sounds ee and oo – watch phonics videos 
• Can you spot either of the sounds hiding in words in your favourite book?
• Can you write out words with these sounds using a different colour for the sound?

Spelling words

Record in your homework jotter what you found by writing or drawing.
