STEM week

This week we are focusing on STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering and maths.

This morning we started with a class discussion on STEM and we made some STEM posters.

We then focused on Science for the rest of the day. We started by reading this book..

And thought about the importance of questions.

We also had a brief look at this website https://www.ducksters.com/science/

STEM homework ideas

  • explore this website further to find out more about different types of science.
  • have a go at some  STEM activities – you will find lots of ideas on the internet

Then we completed our first experiment.

In the afternoon, we worked with Mrs Bellamy’s class to learn more about the weather. We learned about how to measure the weather and how rainbows are formed.

Then we completed a fun experiment using m&m’s and skittles.

What a fantastic day!

We have been learning….

In maths, we have been learning to partition 2 and 3 digit numbers.

We have also been working on writing numbers as words.

In literacy,  we have been reading with our reading buddies and revising some of our sounds.

We read the story Barry the fish with fingers then we created our own funny characters.

Wow, we have been busy 😃

Homework

A big thank you for all of the effort put into the All about me homework. We had a great afternoon sharing our presentations 😃

The children have been issued with homework jotters, homework folders, word walls and homework grids. Choose 1 or 2 activities from the homework grid to complete each week and record any work completed in the homework jotters.

Any work completed should be handed in on a Monday and jotters will be given back on a Tuesday.

Thanks 🙂

School Show

I am so proud of all of our boys and girls today.  What a fabulous show!

Well done everyone!

See you tomorrow for the school trip.  Remembered to bring your lunch in a plastic bag and wear a Woodlands jumper or polo shirt so you are easily identified.
