This term the First Year class have been learning lots of rules about shapes. It may sound like hard work but we have had lots of fun too! We have made posters, cut out and folded different shapes to find lines of symmetry, used paper fasteners to show rotational symmetry, played shape bingo and lots more.

To help with shape recognition we have been working on lots of jigsaws. We even have a whole school jigsaw which is 1000 pieces – a work in progress just now – everyone has helped with pupils and staff having go at putting some pieces in!

Our third year pupils are busy working on Lifeskills Maths topics. We now have many experts on fractions, percentages, graphs, payslips and lots of other interesting topics. Maybe its too soon to say that Maths is Fun but there is lots of laughter coming from the classroom. One of the favourite activities just now is finding out how much each pupil has grown on the height chart that was started last year. Our pupils are growing up in many ways.
