Lucy’s design for the Queen’s cake wins national competition!

Huge congratulations to Lucy Kearney in P3 who has won the design a cake for the Queen’s 90th Birthday competition 🎂

Selected from 4,500 entries throughout Scotland, by a team of judges from The Royal Yacht Britannia and PoppyScotland, the feedback was that Lucy’s design stood out and would make a beautiful cake. The cake will be baked onboard Britannia in the original royal galleys by a team of Chefs.

Lucy has been invited to Britannia to attend a VIP photocall and to be presented with her finished cake, by a celebrity judge on Friday, 10 June at 11am (the weekend of The Queen’s official birthday).

They will also come to the school and present Lucy’s P3 class with a cake, an exact replica of her design, together with a giant crate of art materials for the class.

Well done Lucy 👏🏽lucy's cake

Loch Tay Homework

Mrs Coleman would still like the children to carry out a bit of research on ‘Plains Gala Day’. She is  looking for children to be asking parents/grandparents/other family members about their knowledge and experiences of the Gala Day, past and present. We will be using this information to widen our knowledge and look at the changes from over the years. Photographs would be greatly received too! Children should record their research in their homework jotters.

Thanks to members of the gala day committee for offering to come in and speak to the children.

Loch Tay Homework

For homework this week Mrs Coleman would like the children to carry out a bit of research on ‘Plains Gala Day’. I am looking for children to be asking parents/grandparents/other family members about their knowledge and experiences of the Gala Day, past and present. We will be using this information to widen our knowledge and look at the changes from over the years. Photographs would be greatly received too! Children should record their research in their homework jotters.

The children in this class will be responsible for decorating the Plains Primary Gala Day float this year, and our theme will be ‘The Olympic Games’.

If possible, we are also looking for volunteer members of the Gala Day Committee to come in and talk to the class and answer some questions about the Gala Day this year.

Profiles

Your child should have brought their profile home today, along with the Curriculum Newsletter for their class.

Please spend some time with your child looking at their targets, assessment sheets and work samples. It would be very helpful if, for homework, all pupils could spend some time updating their achievements. Parents should sign the profiles and return them to school by Friday. Many thanks.
