Scottish Parliament Topic

Today Primary 6 had converted the base into a Polling Station.  Children have created Political Parties and were presenting their Manifesto’s to the class yesterday.  Children took on the roles of Presiding Officer, Polling Clerk, vote counters and voters.  They then went to the Voting Booth to mark their Ballot Paper and placed it in the Ballot Box.  Here are some pictures of the children learning all about Manifesto’s, Political Parties and Polling Stations:

Tree of Knowledge – Primary 6

Primary 6 participated in a morning with Tree of Knowledge.  They focus on empowering children to do their best.  “Who Needs a Cape?” is a fun and highly interactive workshop that takes on a superhero slant. It helps pupils realise that they all have the skills and abilities to be super! By putting pupils to the test on a range of key superhero skills, they can begin to build their own ‘superhero’ profile. This helps them to see what sort of hero they naturally are, and helps them to identify any areas they need to work on. With a focus on the importance of determination and effort, this course leaves pupils feeling empowered as they realise you don’t need a cape to be a superhero.

Here are some pictures of Primary 6 having fun at the workshop.

Primary 6 Pizza Making at Frankie and Benny’s, Hamilton

As part of our Food Topic, Primary 6 went to Frankie and Benny’s in Hamilton to make pizza’s.

The children had a fantastic morning and they enjoyed making and finding out all about how to make pizza.  They got to choose their own ingredients and designed their own pizza.  They then ate their pizza (this was an added bonus!).

At the end of the pizza making the children found out all about Frankie and Benny’s pizza and menu in relation to Healthy Eating and Food.

The children would like to give an extra big thank you to Karolina for attending to them so well, making them feel very special and for providing them with great information.

“Thank you Frankie and Benny’s and especially Karolina.”

Here are some pictures of our trip. 🙂

Primary 6 – Electricity Topic

Primary 6 have been learning all about Electricity circuits.  We have been learning all of the symbols that are used to design circuit boards and today we created a simple version – to light a bulb.  This is the first of many and as the term progresses we will be making more complex circuit designs.  Here are some pictures of us lighting up our base!

ICT – Researching Information

Here are Primary 6 researching information on Climate Change.  We were looking on NASA Kids Climate Change Website which had lots of really interesting facts on Climate Change.  We used the information gathered to create a mind map and posters on :

Why should we care about Climate Change?

How is Climate Change impacting on our environment?

What is going to happen in the future if we do not do anything to stop the effects of Climate Change?
