Taught Writing…

The Literacy Shed Plus – https://www.literacyshedplus.com – has a range of resources with a stimulus to aid you in your writing activities. There are linked fun activities which can be done outdoors.

The stimulus I have set you think week is from a story about a boy making clouds. There are follow up activities which include cloud spotting and finding shapes in the sky. This story is linked to our topic of water and your knowledge of the water cycle..

A Cloudy Lesson – Activity Pack

I would love to read your finished stories! If you choose to type your story as a word document then you can email it to me at lgirvan@glow.sch.uk or you can send me an image of your written story if that is easier!

Happy writing!

The Power of Kindness…

The British Red Cross have provided some quick activity ideas on kindness.

Things may feel unsettled right now, but one thing is clear: small acts of kindness can make a difference. There has certainly been an outpouring of kindness across the country and you can play your role too.

Use the power-of-kindness-calendar to learn about the importance of being kind to yourselves and share your kindness with others.

You can record daily acts of kindness here and review all you have achieved at the end of each week.

There are 10 activities to accompany the calendar.

Here are some ideas to get you started:
* Write or draw what kindness means to you.
* Check in on your neighbours in a safe way – perhaps, put a note or a drawing through their door.
* Call or write to a relative.
* Draw a rainbow and put it in your window.
* Write down three things you are grateful for.
* Do something helpful for a friend or family member – help lay the table or could you keep your bedroom tidy?
* Stay at Home – by following this advice you are being kind to others in the community and helping to save lives.

As this week marks the start of a new term, it’s the perfect time to download the kindness calendar!

Share your kind acts with me on Twitter using my handle @MissGirvan and #PowerofKindness

The British Red Cross also have a wide range of other free resources on their website to help build resilience which can be explored here.
