Health – Peer Pressure

November 17, 2017 by Miss Clemente | 1 Comment

Today as part of our Health Topic, we learned strategies that we could use to deal with peer pressure.

We acted out different scenarios and discussed what we should do when we felt peer pressure.

Some of the scenarios we acted out included:

There is no space on the bus to put your large school bag. Your friend tells you to put it in the aisle.

What would you say? What would you do?

It’s raining after school and you and your friend don’t have coats or umbrellas. You see your mum’s car parked down the street. You offer your friend a ride home. There are lots of children waiting for the lollipop man to tell them it is safe to cross. You are both getting wet. Your friend says, “This is taking too long. Let’s run along the footpath and cross right near your mum’s car.”

What would you say? What would you do?

When we had acted out all the scenarios we  spoke about the strategies that we had employed that worked effectively. These included –

Being firm and saying no.

Repeating your initial comment.

Ignoring the person.

Telling an adult.

Health Week

November 12, 2017 by Miss Clemente | 1 Comment

What a blast Health Week was. We took part in lots of different activities and had great fun whilst being healthy! We took part in a French work out in class. It was very good fun.

Our sponsored dance was fun too; we raised a lot of money while learning new dance moves and taking part in a physical activity.

We also had the opportunity to play a game of football outside on the pitch.

A variety of different visitors came into Ladywell during Health Week, including one set of visitors who helped raise our knowledge and awareness of how to check our pet’s pulse and demonstrated how to perform CPR on our dog. This was very interesting.

We had the opportunity to carry out a ‘long jump’ during our athletics session.

We can’t wait till our next Health Week.

Week beginning 6.11.17

In class this week we have begun to investigate money. We have been counting out different amounts. In story writing we wrote instructions to make the perfect pizza.

CM – likes garlic pizza!

ARH – likes sausage on her pizza so does HM.

AH – likes meatballs, chicken, pepperoni and ham – what a combination!

We also started learning the steps to our first Scottish dance the Military 2 Step.

AMcM it was really fun!

M McC – I thought it was quite easy to follow – not too difficult.

A McL – I thought it was a bit embarrassing – but I enjoyed it.

HW – I thought it was fun and I’m looking forward to the next week.

In Health we have been looking at safe and unsafe behaviour on roads.
