The last week of January!

This week we have been continuing to learn about the human body. On Wednesday we wrote a report about the function of a skeleton. The human skeleton has 3 main functions – movement, protection and support! We made a fabulous job of our reports and our teacher had a hard job choosing 4 star writers this week! We also made skeleton pictures using art straws, they look great!

Today we were discussing how we can make small changes to improve our diet. We have all made a promise to make at least one ‘sugar swap’ to cut down on the amount of sugar that we eat. Some of us have promised to swap chocolate bars for fruit and others have promised to swap fizzy drinks for milk or water.

In Maths we have been learning the 4 times table. We are working really hard to learn this but need to keep practising at home!

Burns Day

Happy Burns Day!

Today is Robert Burns Day. We celebrate today because it is Robert Burns birthday. Burns was a famous Scottish poet. We found out about Robert Burns life onlineĀ and we wrote about some of the things that we learned. We created our own tartan using paint. We coloured pictures of Robert Burns to add to our tartan pictures. We had lots of fun.

18/01/18

This week we have been revising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Our new topic is all about the human body. We have talked about what we already know about our bodies and came up with a few ideas about things that we want to learn about. We have been playing dodgeball during our indoor PE sessions. We have had a lot of fun playing that! Today we were looking at the Eatwell Plate and talking about the kinds of foods we should eat a lot of and the kinds of foods that we should be trying to avoid eating too much of.

Christmas is coming!

We have now started learning our songs for the Christmas Show! We think the songs are great but some parts are quite tricky! Look out for song words in school bags this week, so you can practise at home.

This week we also started practising some traditional dances in PE. Our favourite so far is The Grand Old Duke of York!

A busy week!

We have had a busy week in P3a! We all enjoyed the Halloween Parade on Tuesday. All of the costumes were fabulous and we enjoyed dooking for apples afterwards!

We were doing gymnastics during our indoor PE session.

We wrote poems about autumn that were so good that there were 7 Star Writers this week!

We started our new Health and Wellbeing topic which is all about different kinds of drugs.

We all visited the school library and borrowed a book which we can take home to read for pleasure. We will also get a Reading Passport to take home to fill in each time we finish a book.

Health Week

P3a had a great time during Health Week! We did a sponsored dance, football, athletics and Zumba. We had a talk from representatives of St Andrew’s Hospice about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We also completed Level 1 of the Heart Start programme and practised putting people in the recovery position. We also learned a little about giving first aid to dogs. We had a brilliant week but were needing a rest by the time it was Friday!
