March – 3Sixty Bike Display

Today P3a got to watch a cycling stunt show from a company called 3Sixty. The children got to watch the display in our playground and were amazed at the daring stunts that the team performed. They also learned more about how to develop their cycling skills and how to keep themselves safe when cycling.

This was a great event to kick start our involvement in The Big Pedal, which officially starts on Monday 20th March.  For this we are trying to encourage as many pupils to cycle or scoot to school between the 20th and 31st of March to be in with a chance of winning lots of amazing prizes.

We will celebrate our achievements on the 31st of March with and Superhero Active Travel Breakfast for P3-7’s. Remember to return your tear-off slip to Miss McGhee by 24th of March.

Friday 13th January – We can spend money!

This week in Maths we have been learning how to give change from 10p, 20p, 50p and £1. Before the holidays we had already learned how to count coins and even some notes.

To help us learn about giving change, we set up little shops in our class and practised buying food.  This was very fun and we also learned lots. Here are some pictures.

Here is a game you can use to help you practise.

Health Week – Thursday

On Thursday morning we went to a talk all about helmet safety. We learned that you must always wear your helmet when you are on a bike, scooter, skates or skateboards.

“If you go to the park on your bike, you must take it off when you get there so that you don’t get caught on anything. When you start to ride your bike again, put it back on.” CD

“It is good to wear bright helmets in the dark so that they reflect the light.” AR

“If you’re going out at night time don’t wear dark clothes” CM

“I can name all of the parts of a helmet now.” HW

“We learned how to find the perfect fit of helmet so that we are safe.” HM

After that we had a dance lesson with Toni. We learned a street dance routine to the song from ‘Trolls’. Miss McGhee recorded us dancing and we had a great laugh watching it back in class. We also had some great freestyle moves!

In the afternoon we got into small groups and created a new playground game to keep ourselves fit. The names of our games were:

  • ‘Fishy Dishy’
  • ‘Tornado Tag’
  • ‘Sprints’
  • ‘Sharky Sharky’
  • ‘Marvel Jogging Adventures’
  • ‘The Healthy Fit Game’
  • ‘Run, Bunny, Hop’

We taught the class the game and then played each of them. We had great fun and it helped us to think about new rules for our games.
