Happy New Year!

In art this term we have been looking at Kandinsky’s Circles and making our own version.  We  had to draw circles of different sizes and colours and then we experimented with different colour combinations.  They look really effective on black paper.

Our topic is about the Past and so far we have learned about toys and schools in the past.  Schools in the past were really strict and you could get the cane or belt if you broke a rule.  Children learned by chanting words and facts.  They had to sit in rows facing the teacher.  We had a go at sitting in rows like we were a class from the past.  Some of us preferred sitting in rows because we had a partner and it was easier to work.  Children had to stand in the corner wearing a Dunce cap if they got something wrong or were lazy.  They also had to write with their right hand even if they were left handed.  About half of us would have liked to have gone to school in the past.

Panto Day!

We really enjoyed the visiting Panto and got in the festive spirit by wearing our Christmas jumpers.  We also did a special message photo to go in Mrs Ashworth’s memory book.

Meet P2!

Here we are in our blue base near the office.  We have moved from the extension to the main part of the school.  We have our common words on the wall and phoneme flowers.  We also have bright colour wheels that we have painted.  We have a nice new library with a rainbow.

Term 2 Information

P2 have started a new IDL topic called ‘We are Scientists’.  So far we have learned about solids, liquids and gases.  We are looking forward to doing some experiments.  We enjoyed our topic last term about Katie Morag.  The stories helped us compare life in the town of Motherwell with life on a Scottish Island.

In Health we are learning about milk.  We are learning about where it comes from, why it is good for us and how to eat a balanced diet.  We know milk somes from cows, goats and sheep.  It is healthy and helps us grow.  It has calcium which is good for our bones and teeth.

This term we are also investigating numbers to 100 and addition and subtraction up to 20.

In French we are learning the colours.  Red is rouge, yellow is jaune and green is vert.

We have starting practising our nativity and we can’t wait for you to see it!
