WWF – Wear it Wild Day

Yesterday we celebrated WWF’s Wear it Wild day by dressing up as wild animals and taking part in different animals tasks.

Thank you to those who brought in a £1 donation. We will use this money, along with P2b, to vote for and adopt an endangered animal.

We worked outside to create ‘step-by-step’ pictures of animals. We learned how to draw animals easily using basic shapes to help us.

We also presented our fantastic Factfiles and 3D models of our chosen Endangered Animals. I was so impressed!

Maths Week – Measure Challenge

P2a took their ‘money measuring tapes’ outside to explore the length they made when put side by side. We also looked at all the coin patterns we had made.

Thanks for all the kind donations which will be added to our school funds to allow us to buy important learning  resources.

Our class trip to Calderglen

Last week we enjoyed a fantastic trip to Calderglen Park. In the morning we went on a Feeding Tour with Natalie the Zoo Keeper.

We watched some animals being fed.

We got to feed the Rabbits and Guinea Pigs vegetables.

After lunch, Natalie showed us some animals and we even got to pet them!

We got to touch and hold a snake, a bearded dragon, a cockroach, a rat and a hamster.

Just before we got on the bus home, we got to play in the amazing play park!

We had so much fun and we learned lots too!

Cook It

During our Healthy Eating topic, we’ve been developing our food handling skills.

We have demonstrated food hygiene when preparing different foods.

We made delicious and colourful fruit Kebabs and developed confidence with the ‘Bridge’ cutting technique.

We also developed ‘rubbing’ and ‘moulding’ skills when making traditional Scottish Oatcakes.

Playground Games from the Past

P2a have been learning about toys and games children would have played in the past.

We learned how to make a Hopscotch grid with chalk and played Hopscotch in pairs. It was trickier than we thought it would be!

Fashion through the Decades

P2a had a brilliant time exploring the different fashions throughout the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.

We even got a change to dress up in styles from the decades and dance to music which was popular at that time.

World Book Day 2017

We had so much fun celebrating the amazing world of books! P2a even arrived in school dressed as their favourite book characters.

It was good fun taking part in lots of tasks and we even got a chance to make a little ‘Three Bears’ role-play.

Our visit to the Heritage Centre

Our class went to the Heritage Centre on Monday afternoon. We went there to learn about our new topic. The workshop was called ‘When Gran was a Girl’.

We learned about lots of different things Gran would have had in her house to help her with the housework. We got to pretend we were washing clothes, we were shopping in the past too.

We even got to use the carpet beater and hoover.

We think housework in the past must have been hard work.

Magnetism

For the final part of our Science topic, we’ve been exploring Magnetism. We worked in small groups to plan, design and create a game using magnets.

We worked together to make all the parts for our game and REALLY enjoyed playing them. We also got a chance to play some games other groups had designed.
