Can you believe it is nearly the Summer holidays? I now feel like the time is flying past. This week the teachers are back in school for the first time since we closed and I’m sure it will be strange. I’m only in one day but I’m already looking forward to a socially distanced catch up with the teachers that are in at the same time. We’re going to start getting ready for when we can reopen, starting with clearing out a lot of our own resources and bringing them home (not sure where I’m going to find space for them!). You’re tasks this week are a lot more interesting though. Below is a grid of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) activities for you to choose from. You could try and enlist the help of someone at home or even be the teacher and teach it to a sibling. Most of all, have fun!

Good morning P3/2, we hope you had a great weekend? What did you get up to??? Grace found a big stick and chased her daddy with it! He he he! Did you do the St Andrew’s Hospice Water Bucket Challenge? There’s lots of videos on the Ladywell Primary School Twitter Page of the teachers and pupils getting soaked! Spelling up to the end of term
For the last few weeks of term we are going to focus on making sure you are really confident with all the sounds and common words you have learned so far this year.

Sumdog Contest
A new North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest starts tomorrow and runs until Thursday 11th June. Give your brains a workout and help us get on the leaderboard! We need 10 players in each class for that class to qualify.
Mental Maths – Pentagons and Hexagons
Have a go at this rainbow challenge. Pentagons see how many colours you can do. Hexagons you could try any or all of the colours or get an adult to change the numbers and try adding/subtracting to 20 and numbers up to 100. I tried this with my little girl and found it easiest to read the PDF myself. You could try one colour each day for a quick mental workout.

FUN Printing!
Why not try out some cool printing art using paint and used kitchen paper rolls? Be as creative as you can and have fun! Act of kindness: why not take a picture of your lovely art and email or message it to a loved one that you’re missing ? It will make them smile and brighten their day!

Wear Yellow Week
As part of our Wear Yellow Week to raise money for St. Andrew’s Hospice here’s some Summery activities with a twist.
Can you design a flower using only yellow? You could use any materials you can find, paint, torn paper, natural materials, wool, pen, etc. Here are just some of the tones and shades of yellow.

Measuring Capacity
A good concept to do outside while it’s nice, especially if you have a paddling pool out. Pick the worksheet you’d like to try, they are levelled using 1, 2 and 3 stars.
Use words like full, nearly full, half full, half empty, nearly empty and empty to describe how much liquid is in a container.
We can use smaller containers to fill larger one and say how many times the smaller one has to be filled to fill the larger one. Try estimating first.
Find an assortment of containers and order them from least to most depending on how much water they will hold. Can you find a way of checking?
