Our health committeemembers work with Miss Gibb and also link closely with the Eco Committee for various joint events.
Last year the children felt that they couldn’t enjoy their lunch outside in good weather because there is very little seating so it was decided that any money raised through the Health Committee in 2014/15 would be put towards buying picnic benches for the playground. We now have 6 picnic tables outside which are used for lunches during sunny weather and for catching up with friends during playtime.
The Health Committee held taster sessions last year from homegrown fruit and veg which was a great success. The committee would like to continue this throughout the year and will issue leters to parents about this in due course. Should any child not be allowed to take part in the taster session due to allergies or otherwise, please let the school know as soon as possible. If you or someone that you know grows fruit or vegetables in their garden, and you have their permission, why not bring some in for the children to taste?
Fairtrade Fortnight in always a great success and the Health Committee liaise closely with members from the Eco Committee to help run a breakfast club during this time as well as providing a Fairtrade tuckshop and smoothies.
