{"id":23,"date":"2015-05-05T09:24:05","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T09:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/anntest3\/?page_id=23"},"modified":"2020-11-30T17:45:46","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T17:45:46","slug":"expressive-arts","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olsj\/learning-teaching\/curriculum-for-excellence\/expressive-arts\/","title":{"rendered":"Expressive Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The expressive arts include experiences and outcomes in art and design, drama, dance and music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Through the expressive arts, children and young people can have rich opportunities to be creative and imaginative and to experience inspiration and enjoyment.<br \/>\nThey can come to understand the important roles of the arts in describing and changing society.<br \/>\nThrough their experience of the expressive arts, children and young people can appreciate the contributions of the arts in the lives of individuals and communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Learning through the expressive arts enables children and young people to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">express themselves in different ways and be creative<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">experience enjoyment (and contribute to other people\u2019s enjoyment) through creative and expressive performance and presentation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">develop important skills specific to expressive arts and also transferable skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">develop an appreciation of aesthetic and cultural values and ideas<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">for some, prepare for advanced learning and future careers by building foundations for excellence in the expressive arts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">There are numerous opportunities for pupils to develop the skills of Music, Drama, Art and Design at Our Lady and St Joseph&#8217;s Primary.\u00a0 \u00a0Music is taught and developed using our ABC music programme and a range of tuned and untuned percussion instruments.\u00a0 We also have a Kodaly instructor who works with our P5 pupils fortnightly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Staff use First Steps in Drama to develop drama skills with children and they also have the opportunity to perform in school shows and activities to wider audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">We currently use Borders Art to support Art &amp; Design throughout the school.\u00a0 A wide range of craft materials are available.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The expressive arts include experiences and outcomes in art and design, drama, dance and music.
