The curriculum includes all of the experiences which are planned for children and young people through their education, wherever they are being educated.\u00a0 All schools and nurseries in North Lanarkshire are working hard to raise standards so that children and young people will develop all of the skills necessary to continue to be successful when leaving school and entering the world of higher education, training or work.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Curriculum for Excellence is underpinned by the values inscribed on the mace of the Scottish Parliament \u2013 wisdom, justice, compassion and integrity.\u00a0 The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is encapsulated in the four capacities \u2013 to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen and an effective contributor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Learning is divided into two phases: \u00a0The Broad Education (BGE) and Senior Phase.\u00a0 The Broad Education (BGE)\u00a0is from nursery to the end of Secondary School Year 3.\u00a0\u00a0 Senior Phase is from Secondary School Year 4 &#8211; 6.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Learning is divided into levels.\u00a0 The levels are as follows:-<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">LEVEL\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 STAGE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Early\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the pre-school years and P1 or later for some<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">First\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 to the end of P.4 but earlier or later for some<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Second\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 to the end of P7, but earlier or later for some<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Third and Fourth \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 S1-S3, but earlier for some<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Senior Phase\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 S4 \u2013 S6 and college or other means of study<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri;font-size: medium\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing an improved, more flexible and enriched curriculum for all children and young people from 3 \u2013 18.
