Welsh &#8211; Treasurer<\/p>\n<p>Mrs S. Henderson\u2013 Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Mrs D. Kerr \u2013 Parent Member<\/p>\n<p>Ms L. Higgins &#8211; Parent Member<\/p>\n<p>Mrs C. Carson \u2013 Parent Member<\/p>\n<p>Mrs T. Aitken \u2013 Co-opted Member<\/p>\n<p>Mr J. Gaffney \u2013 Church Representative<\/p>\n<p>Mrs H. Hamilton \u2013 Staff Representative<\/p>\n<p>Mrs M. Kelly \u2013 Clerk to the Parent Council<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Council\u2019s rights and duties include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>supporting the work of the school<\/li>\n<li>representing the views of parents<\/li>\n<li>consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum on matters of interest<\/li>\n<li>prompting contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the wider community<\/li>\n<li>fundraising<\/li>\n<li>taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff<\/li>\n<li>receiving reports from the head teacher and education authority<\/li>\n<li>receiving an annual budget for administration, training and other expenses<\/li>\n<li>improving home school partnership and facilitating parental involvement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Members of Parent Council\u2019s, on a voluntary basis, may also have an advisory role in decisions on placing requests by parents in respect of those in situations where the number of placing requests for a particular school or for a particular stage in a particular school exceeds the number of places available.<\/p>\n<p>Parent Council elections:\u00a0 All parents will be duly notified when the Parent Council election is due. Details of how many parent representatives needed will be included. \u00a0Any parent who would be interested in becoming a Parent Council Member is encouraged to make his\/her interest known to the Head Teacher.\u00a0 If there are more parents interested than places available, balloting of parents will follow.\u00a0 Elections are usually held every 2 years in September. The head teacher has a right and duty to attend all meetings of the Parent Council.\u00a0 Meetings of the Parent Council are open to members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>These are usually held in the staffroom of Our Lady &amp; St. Joseph\u2019s on the first Tuesday evening of each month, at 6pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parent Councils came into force on 1st August 2007.\u00a0 The members of the Parent Council are as follows: Vacancy \u2013 Chairperson Vacancy \u2013 Vice Chairperson Mrs K.
