The chapel was originally constructed at our previous Airbles Street site, and dedicated on 14th June 1949. It was\u00a0 moved to its present site when the Dalzell Drive\u00a0 buildings opened in 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Each November, the Bishop of Motherwell celebrates a Memorial Mass in the Chapel, attended by relatives of those who are commemorated there. Books of Remembrance remain on display year round.<\/p>\n<p>The interior design of the Chapel owes much to the work of Sadie McLellan and Walter Pritchard.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the Chapel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a statue of the Virgin and Child in copper and brass by Walter Pritchard<\/li>\n<li>a stained glass window behind the statue by Sadie McLellan<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0religious murals, also by Sadie McLellan<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Memorial Plaque and Book of Remembrance<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0military insignia, flags and regimental badges<\/li>\n<li>a millennium tapestry containing the signatures of many staff and pupils in the year 2000<\/li>\n<li>a millennium time capsule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Chapel continues to play an important role in the daily religious and spiritual life of Our Lady&#8217;s High School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our War Memorial Chapel was\u00a0 built to commemorate former staff and pupils of Our Lady&#8217;s and St Joseph&#8217;s High Schools\u00a0who lost their lives during the World Wars.
