A survey can help show how people <strong>feel<\/strong> about particular issues. However, a survey does not show how much people <strong>know<\/strong> about an issue. If you are using a survey as evidence, try to back it up with additional information.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #800080\">Investigation<\/span><\/h6>\n<p><em><strong>Do we have a problem with chewing gum in our school?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<div>Pupils will work in teams to investigate the problem of old chewing gum and try to identify some solutions. We will conduct two surveys to help with evidence.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Survey 1: opinion<\/div>\n<div>Survey 2: evidence<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #800080\">Outline<\/span><\/h6>\n<ol>\n<li>Think about your best \u201cchewing gum\u201d story and share it with the rest of the class.<\/li>\n<li>The class will split in two: one group will investigate chewing gum <em>information<\/em> and the other will investigate the chewing gum <i>evidence <\/i>and then swap over.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #800080\"><strong>Evidence<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h6>\n<div><span style=\"color: #800080\"><em><strong>Information\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>How can chewing gum be cleaned up? From the streets\/from clothes\/from walls and desks<\/li>\n<li>Why is chewing gum banned in Singapore?<\/li>\n<li>What is Chicza gum?<\/li>\n<li>What are gummy bins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #800080\"><em><strong>Problem<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>How much gum is stuck under the chairs and tables?<\/li>\n<li>How can we use this number to estimate the amount in the whole school?<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>If costs about 10p to clean up every bit of gum.
