Is there an organisation or a name attached? What can you discover about the source or authors from elsewhere?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Does the writer provide any evidence of who they are? Can that evidence be proved e.g. other websites, email addresses you could follow up?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is the source funded by another organisation? What can you discover about them?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Are the writers or publishers experts on this subject?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Look at the URL: does the domain name tell you anything? (Remember that websites usually select select their own domains).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">What sort of source is it?\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Visual e.g. photographs, pictures. Could the source have been altered to add something or remove something?\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Graphs? Does the source tell the full story or only part of it?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Satire? i.e. is it trying to be funny or to make a fool out of a news story?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is the source trying to make you feel emotional? Angry? Upset?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is the writer using biased language?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><em><span style=\"color: #800080\">Where does the information come from?<\/span><\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Has the author provided their sources?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Do they back up their claims with evidence?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is the text well written without errors or spelling mistakes?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Can you find the same information elsewhere?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">When was the source created?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Is the information up to date?\u00a0Does it need to be?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is there a more recent version of this information e.g. an annual report?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><em><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">Why was this source created?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why does this source exist? Is it trying to sell you \u00a0something? Explain something? Shock you?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Does the writer or organisation explain what the purpose of the source is?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Can you spot statements, questions, bias, opinion?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Does anything feel &#8216;wrong&#8217; about it? It&#8217;s a good idea to trust your gut and double check.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong><span style=\"color: #800080\">Even if it&#8217;s reliable, is this a good source for you?<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Can you understand it?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is it too simple and basic, or is it too academic and technical?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Does it provide the information you need?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is this a serious source or someone simply trying to be funny? How can you tell?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Is it easy to read or are there lots of distractions?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Still not sure?
