You should always use at least\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>two sources of information for any investigation, and you should always\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>list your sources afterwards.<\/p>\n

There are lots of different ways to list (or cite) your sources. This version is called the Harvard<\/strong> method.<\/p>\n

  1. Collect the information you need<\/li>\n
  2. Organise the information into the right order<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Book information required<\/span><\/i><\/b>
    \n<\/span><\/i><\/b>Author\u2019s surname, Initials, (Year in brackets). Title of book in italics<\/i>. Place of publication: Publisher. <\/span><\/p>\n

    e.g.\u00a0Seafield, L., (2009). 150 famous Scots<\/i>. New Lanark: Waverley.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Website information required
    \n<\/em><\/strong>Organisation or Author\u2019s Surname, Initials, (Year in brackets). Title of webpage in italics<\/em>[online]. Publisher if available. Available from: URL [Access date].<\/p>\n

    e.g.\u00a0Macfadyen, J., (2019). How to cite your sources\u00a0<\/em>[online]. Our Lady\u2019s High School. Available from\u00a0https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olhslrc\/il\/citesources\/ \u00a0<\/a>[accessed 21st<\/sup>January 2020]<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/em>NB different rules apply for other sources of information including\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, journals, lyrics, maps, photographs, moving images etc. Ask Mrs Macfadyen if you’re not sure.<\/p>\n
