They contain articles written by and checked by specialists in that subject area and are the main format for academics to publish their research.<\/p>\n<p>Journals usually cost a great deal of money which is why some universities now encourage staff to publish in Open Access journals (i.e. free) as more people would be able to read their work.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nls.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Library of Scotland<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The National Library of Scotland (NLS) is available for everyone living in Scotland and has an extensive <a href=\"https:\/\/auth.nls.uk\/eresources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online collection<\/a>, including online maps, exhibitions and academic journals. The Moving Image Archive is also available at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>To use the journals, please <a href=\"https:\/\/auth.nls.uk\/join\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">register online<\/a> for a library card first. This is essential due to licensing. Make sure you have clicked &#8216;public&#8217; at the bottom of the search box.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #333399\"><em>Citations<\/em><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olhslrc\/il\/citesources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How to cite your sources<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A guide on what&#8217;s required for <strong>Harvard<\/strong> citations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/citethisforme.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cite this for me<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an excellent app that will help you with your citations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #333399\"><em>Academic integrity<\/em><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Academic integrity means you are honest about your work and giving credit to anyone if you have used their work.<\/p>\n<p>Using someone else&#8217;s work is plagiarism and is completely unacceptable. However, it is more than simply not copying someone else&#8217;s words.<\/p>\n<p>In Higher Education you will be expected to read widely for your courses, and then to share who&#8217;s work you have used, compare it with others and add your own opinion.
