Pupils will develop an understanding of the knowledge, skills and processes that are now fundamental in the commercially manufactured world in which we live in<\/span><span style=\"float: none;background-color: transparent;color: #444444;font-family: 'PT Sans',sans-serif;font-size: 14px;font-style: normal;font-variant: normal;font-weight: 400;letter-spacing: normal;list-style-type: none;text-align: justify;text-decoration: none;text-indent: 0px\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px;color: #2b2b2b;font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\">Design and Manufacture aims to develop pupils creativity and technological abilities. The course covers two areas:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Design<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the product design process from brief to design proposal.<\/li>\n<li>To initiate, develop, articulate and communicate design proposals<\/li>\n<li>To design\/make\/test processes<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate and resolve work<\/li>\n<li>Understand the factors that influence the design of products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Manufacture:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the product design process from design proposals to prototype and product <em>(reading drawings, communicate design ideas and practical details).<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Develop practical skills that are invaluable in the design\/make\/test process <em>(creating 2D\/3D models from the workshop to CAD software)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Understand the properties and uses of materials, as well as simple manufacturing processes and techniques.<\/li>\n<li>Refine and resolve design and manufacturing
