{"id":5110,"date":"2024-03-15T06:32:45","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T06:32:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olga\/?p=5110"},"modified":"2024-03-15T08:13:32","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T08:13:32","slug":"friday-focus-self-evaluation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olga\/2024\/03\/15\/friday-focus-self-evaluation\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday Focus: self evaluation &amp; quality assurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4028\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olga\/files\/2024\/01\/EEB9CB1A-0E65-4E64-B5FE-795BE5490EA7-1024x230.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"139\" \/>As we continue to look ahead to our inspection from HMIe, which is likely to take place between now and the summer holidays, this week\u2019s Friday Focus is on self evaluation and quality assurance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Rigorous self-evaluation and quality assurance are fundamental to the effectiveness and success of Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1734\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olga\/files\/2022\/04\/Continuous_Improvement-300x157.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" \/>Primary School &amp; Nursery Class.\u00a0 Cathedral views self-evaluation and quality assurance as an opportunity rather than a requirement: a chance to reflect on our vision, values and aims and to take an honest look at where we are now, where we want to be, how we know we will have arrived and how we are going to get there.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:200,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3999\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/nl\/olga\/files\/2024\/01\/HGIOS4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"152\" height=\"197\" \/>Quality Assurance includes the Leadership Team monitoring teachers\u2019 planning and pupils\u2019 jotters as well as conducting lesson observations. The Education Scotland document <em>\u2018How Good is our School? 4\u2019<\/em> is used to evaluated Cathedral&#8217;s current performance across a range of Quality Indicators and set our next steps. Teaching staff also collaborate in small groups called <em>Professional Learning Communities<\/em> (PLCs) to reflect on and improve their day-to-day practice.<\/p>\n<p>An important part of Cathedral\u2019s ongoing self-evaluation is our annual pupil, staff and parent\/carer questionnaires which gather feedback and views on a number of areas.
