Learners had the opportunity to explore Cathedral\u2019s 2026\/27improvement priorities at our whole-school assembly on Thursday 25th June and will help take these forward from August through Smart School Council.<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">There are two priorities this year, once again focusing on Pedagogy and Curriculum:<\/div>\n<div data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><b>1. Strengthen and sustain high\u2011quality learning, teaching and assessment by embedding a consistent culture of practitioner enquiry across the <span class=\"markta6fmkg05\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">school.\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><b>2. Build the capacity and confidence of all teaching staff to teach Spanish and BSL to their own class and embed stimulating language learning opportunities within day-to-day learning.<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">An exciting part of priority 1 will be o<\/span>ur school is taking part in an exciting year\u2011long pilot with nine other North Lanarkshire primaries to develop a strong, research\u2011informed approach to learning for children aged 7\u201311. This work builds on the highly successful practice seen at Cathedral Primary in Motherwell, which was graded <em>\u201cexcellent\u201d<\/em> for Learning, Teaching and Assessment in its May 2025 inspection.<\/p>\n<p>The programme focuses on creating the best possible learning environment for children by rethinking classroom spaces, learning experiences and the balance between <strong>adult\u2011led<\/strong>, <strong>adult\u2011initiated<\/strong> and <strong>child\u2011led<\/strong> learning. Staff will take part in whole\u2011school training, ongoing coaching, shared resources and cross\u2011school visits to learn from one another.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the year, each school will gather evidence of the impact on children\u2019s learning, with the aim of preparing for a wider roll\u2011out across North Lanarkshire in 2027\/28.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">As always, our improvement priorities have been set out on a child-friendly poster (see above).
