Cathedral Primary School has been around since 1875, way back when Queen Victoria was on the throne! The very first Head Teacher of the parish school, from 1878 – 1881, was a lady called Rose Trainer. In 2021, Cathedral pupils, parents and staff worked together to develop a special achievement award which we decided to name after Rose Trainer.<\/p>\n
Every Cathedral pupil (including our young learners in the nursery) is automatically enrolled onto the Rose Trainer Achievement Award<\/strong>. The award helps you develop important life-skills such as being able to do your school tie by yourself, helping out with chores at home, making a difference in your local community, preparing a meal for your family and doing random acts of kindness. As you work through the award, you will develop into a<\/p>\n SUCCESSFUL LEARNER<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n CONFIDENT INDIVIDUAL<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN<\/strong><\/span> and<\/p>\n EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTOR<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The Rose Trainer Achievement Award<\/strong> has eight different levels and you can earn a bronze, silver and gold certificate for each:<\/p>\n Each year, you receive a special record card which lists all your different challenges. The Rose Trainer Achievement Award was officially launched in Motherwell Cathedral on 11th March\u00a02022 (Rose Trainer\u2019s birthday). Following Mass in the cathedral, a rose garden was planted in the cathedral grounds, along with a commemorative granite stone which reads: \u2018In appreciation of Rose Trainer, first Head Teacher of the parish school. Planted on 11th March 2022 to mark the launch of the Rose Trainer Achievement Award.\u2019\u00a0<\/em>Why not visit the rose garden next time you are at the cathedral?<\/p>\n\n
