\"\"Cathedral Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong> gives EVERY<\/span> Cathedral learner a voice and, under the leadership of our twelve elected House Captains, helps drive forward change and improvement in Cathedral Primary. YOU<\/span> play a vital part in the success of our Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Cathedral Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong> is organised in a similar way to the Scottish Parliament, with our House Captains forming the Cabinet<\/strong> and leading our six Directorates<\/strong>:\"\"LEARNING \u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Ensuring every Cathedral pupil benefits from the highest-quality learning spaces, experiences and interactions.<\/p>\n

FAITH \u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Promoting Cathedral\u2019s Catholic ethos and supporting every learner to live-out their personal faith and values.<\/span><\/p>\n

HEALTH \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Looking after the physical, social, emotional and mental health of every Cathedral learner.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

EQUALITY \u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Promoting the UNCRC articles and ensuring that the rights of every Cathedral learner are upheld.
\n<\/span>
\nSUSTAINABILITY \u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Supporting Cathedral learners to look after their school, the wider environment and our planet.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

FINANCE \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Ensuring Cathedral learners are involved in, and kept informed of, how the school budget and school funds are used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every Cathedral learner participates in a fortnightly Class Council<\/strong> meeting when a particular topic is discussed. Everyone’s views and ideas are recorded electronically and sent to our House Captains. Based on this information, our Cabinet Secretaries<\/strong> (House Captains) form short-term committees to take forward current projects and priorities.<\/p>\n

Cathedral school community is kept up to date with developments at our weekly assembly and via our Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Action Board in the main corridor.<\/p>\n

Our Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong> projects have included developing a new school library, zoning our four learning streets and celebrating diversity across our campus. We keep a record of our improvements, achievements and successes in our Cathedral Pupil Parliament<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>log-book and also add them to our improvement timeline.<\/p>\n

What do all those big words mean?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cabinet<\/strong>: a fancy word for the group of people in a government who make the main decisions. In Cathedral, the Cabinet is made up of our twelve House Captains.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cabinet Secretary<\/strong>: a member of the cabinet who also has responsibility for a particular area (e.g. Health). In Cathedral, each of our House Captains is a Cabinet Secretary.<\/span><\/p>\n

Directorate<\/strong>: a fancy word for a department responsible for a particular area. For example, another way of saying the Health Directorate would be the Department for Health. In Cathedral, we have six different Directorates (Learning, Faith, Health, Equality, Sustainability and Finance).<\/span><\/p>\n

Constituents<\/strong>: the people living in a certain area who have a Member of Parliament (MP or MSP) to represent them. In Cathedral, every learner is a constituent and their Members of Parliament are their two House Captains.<\/span><\/p>\n
