Hello boys and girls,<\/p>\n
This week we are going to focus on Article 24 – the\u00a0right to a safe environment. We are going to focus on the environment and plastic pollution because on Friday it is World Environment Day.<\/p>\n
World Environment Day (WED) is an international day of environmental awareness and action that happens on the 5th of June each year.<\/p>\n
This started in 1974 by the United Nations, each year WED is hosted by a different country, with events focusing on a central theme. This year it was being held in Colombia, with Biodiversity as the central theme.<\/p>\n
Biodiversity refers to the variety of life. It is seen in the number of species in an ecosystem or on the entire Earth. Biodiversity gets used as a measure of the health of biological systems, and to see if there is a danger that too many species become extinct.<\/p>\n
This day is meant to allow people highlight how they take care of the Earth.\u00a0Here are some suggestions for fun, biodiversity supporting World Environment Day activities:<\/p>\n
