Yesterday we had a look at some Scots words and phrases. I have received most of your answers. Some children had corrections to do. I suggested using google to find the meaning of some of the Scots words. Please do these corrections before completing this task.

This task doesn’t require any writing – you can just call out the answers and check at the end if you are correct. It is an old Scots nursery rhyme.

Play the power point and follow the instructions. You may wish to write your answers down in case you forget. I’ve attached a sheet if you need it. This is a self-correcting exercise. Just let me know how you got on in the comments.

Next view this word search. You don’t need to print it off – just look at it to give you clues to some ck words

Did you find other words to add to each column? If yes write them in neatly.

Know spend at least 15 minutes practising your words, especially the ch column.  You may decide to read, write and cover the word – don’t forget to check it each time. You may learn by spelling aloud or by writing each word out using rainbow letters.

Ask and an adult or older brother or sister to test you on at least 15 of the words. If you get any wrong, spend more time practising these words.

Do you know what they all mean? If not use a dictionary to look them up. Remember google is a free online dictionary.

Go to the post about epic books and video clips (the one that mentioned the goalkeeper – yes that one!) from yesterday and explore the books I have put up. You should find one that links to our science topic. Send me an email with it’s title. DO NOT POST THE TITLE HERE OR IN TEAMS – YOU’LL GIVE IT AWAY!

Read for pleasure –

Once you have read that book. Choose one of your own to read. I want you to sit somewhere quiet and read for a minimum 25 minutes. You can tell me what book you chose to read in the comments.

Mr McCloskey sent an email to parents before Christmas with instructions on how to log on. Briefly go to teams area – at the top choose the join a team tab. When prompted enter this code. You only need to do this once and it will appear on your child’s Teams page.

The majority of the class should choose to enter the blue classroom.

I have found a website that has a lot of free books and video clips. It is an American site and most of the sport is aimed at the USA although I did find an interesting clip linking good goal keeping to mathematics! When you log on you will see a menu with all your first names. When you click on it you will see the football clip first but if you go up to the little mail icon at the top you will see I have chosen 4 books for you to explore.

This is an area you can explore when you have finished your daily tasks or the Teams area is running slow and you want to try something else. Let me know what you think.
