Friday 1st May 2020

Good morning boys and girls,

Happy Friday! Today is the start of a new month, the month of May. One of my favourite months of the year.

Todays tasks:

Task 1 – Dictation

Ask some one at home to read you the dictated sentence below and you write it. Just like we do in class on a Friday.

Primary 1

We went to get on the red bus.

Primary 2

We could sail the toy boat down the river.

Task 2 – Reading

Read a book of your choice either one you have at home or one from oxford reading website. Can you pick out any of the common words we have learned over the year, any adjectives and tricky words and write them down? You can use multicolours, different colours for different words or whatever way you would like to record each word.

Task 3 – Maths

Use the website from yesterday again to have another practise at time. Either o’clock, o’clock and half past or challenge yourself to reading quarter past the hour times.

Number

Ask someone to test you orally on your number bonds Primary 1 – number bonds to 10 and Primary to number bonds to 20, 30 or 50. Challenge yourself.

Task 4 – May is the month of Mary

During the month of May we celebrate Mary – the mother of Jesus. Say a hail Mary with your family asking Mary to help and guide us through these difficult times. If we were in school we would be creating a lovely May altar to celebrate Mary with flowers and lovely drawings. Create a flower or a drawing of flowers to celebrate the month of May.

Have a great Friday boys and girls. It looks like it will be nice and bright at some stages of today too so make sure you have time outside in the fresh air too.

Missing you all lots and lots!!

Thursday 30th April 2020

Good morning boys and girls,

It is Thursday again, I hope it has been another quick week for you all. I can see lots of you have been very busy and posting your work to Mrs Curran and I. It is wonderful to see you are working so hard at home.

Today’s tasks:

Task 1

Taught Writing – I would like you to write a diary entry for a day this week. Remember when you write a diary entry you should have the date at the top.

Primary 1 – You could write three sentences about what you did that day, who you did it with and what did you feel or enjoy about the activities you did that day. Draw a picture to illustrate your day.

Primary 2 – You could write a paragraph about what you did throughout the day, who you did you do the activities with and how did you feel that day or how did you feel about what you did that day? Draw a picture to illustrate your diary entry.

You can once again post on to our glow page, teams page or keep in a folder for us to look at once we return to school.

This could be a short task that you could do everyday – imagine looking back on this time and having a diary to read all about it. Ava is writing a diary at home everyday, she is already enjoying looking back and reading what we did a few weeks ago. Give it a go boys and girls.

Remember a sentence needs a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. Primary 2 I would like to see some interesting joining words. Primary 1 and Primary 2 remember to describe your day using exciting adjectives which we have been working on using.
